Wash Your Vehicle Regularly

Washing your vehicle has more benefits than just keeping your vehicle nice and shiny. By cleaning your vehicle regularly, you are removing debris and grit that can degrade the health and durability of your windshield wipers. Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the wipers and windshields thoroughly. This can also protect your vehicle’s windshield from suffering minor scratches!

Avoid Using Your Wipers When Dry

Windshield wipers aren’t designed to be used on a dry windshield. The lubrication provided by water reduces the amount of friction created between the windshield and the wipers, preventing wear and degradation. Always be sure to spray a little bit of windshield washer fluid before activating the wipers when conditions are dry.

Watch Where You Park

Believe it or not, your choice of parking space may have implications for your windshield wipers’ lifespan as well. Parking underneath a tree may result in debris falling on to your vehicle and getting stuck in your wiper blades, which will reduce their lifespan. If you need to park underneath a tree, consider clearing out any leaves or twigs that may have fallen onto your windshield prior to getting in your vehicle.
